The Herbst Appliance - from a Research Tool to a Game Changer in Orthodontics

The Herbst appliance the orthodontic appliance in the world with the vastest amount of scientific evidence available. It is characterized by a high treatment efficiency and effectiveness. The present lecture will update the attendees regarding the usage, design, indications and contraindications of Herbst appliance treatment for the management of Class II malocclusions. Information about the evolution of these topic will give the attendees a better understanding of the possibilities and limits of Herbst treatment. Modern treatment strategies and treatment approaches for special cases (Brodie bites, JIA, Special needs patients) will be shown.
