Abstract
Maxillary Cross In Young Adults: Oral Health Related to Quality of Life
by Grecolini Maria Elena
This lecture will present clinical cases regarding young patients who have in common a mono- or bilateral maxillary cross. All patients were treated by the use of the leaf expander, a device capable of determining a dentoalveolar remodelling of the upper jaw, through the use of gentle, continuous and consistent forces. Orthodontic treatment in these patients is not only able to improve the functional balance of the occlusion that ensues, but it is also able to bring about an improvement in the quality of life as shown in the many papers already existing in the literature. Although in the growing patient the urgency of the need to treat transversal disorders is universally accepted, this study highlights the positive orthodontic and psychological advancements resulting from treatment in young adults.
