Abstract

New Legal Rules in Aesthetic Dentistry

by Cassetta Michele

The request by patients for aesthetic treatments on the face is constantly increasing and dental surgeries are naturally prepared to satisfy these needs. The recent approval of the law that allows dentistry graduates to practice aesthetic therapies also on the upper third of the face represents a great opportunity for dentists who wish to deal with Aesthetic Medicine. The turning point requires learning techniques and knowledge that allow the treatments to be implemented with the greatest possible safety for the patient and the necessary serenity on the part of dentists. Communication topics also become crucial in order to effectively present new skills to patients. The feeling is that a new figure of dentistry is emerging, capable of managing purely dental services, such as veneers, whitening and aligners, but also of aesthetic medicine, such as biorevitalizations, treatments based on hyaluronic acid and botulinum toxin. The target is that the transition will be faced with a sense of responsibility, a desire to acquire high-level skills and knowledge that will also allow for protection from a medical-legal point of view. A meeting to clarify the path that has led to today's situation, what are the therapeutic possibilities offered by the approval of the Law and to identify the most effective means of communication with presenting this novelty to patients.
