Abstract
Efficiency and Excellence in Aligners Therapy in Third Millenium Orthodontics: What Solutions
by Celli Daniel
The clinical success has been joined by the commercial one with innumerable proposals from manufacturing companies which have contributed to create a trend also due to a pressing advertising campaign which has amplified the advantages of therapy with aligners (greater comfort, aesthetics, speed of treatment, predictability)However, all this had the effect of inducing patients to request a specific treatment modality themselves, shifting themselves into the category of "consumers" The lack of robust scientific evidence has often facilitated an indiscriminate clinical use of aligners, leaving manufacturers the possibility and the right to impose models and therapeutic strategies that are often superficial, neither effective nor efficient, fooling less experienced professionals with frankly inaccurate promises This course aims to examine the weaknesses and strengths of the aligners, describe the possibilities and limits of this therapy by suggesting, to obtain efficiency and excellence of results, simple, integrated, hybrid or sequential solutions but supported by incontrovertible scientific evidence
