Abstract
Hybrid or Clear: Where Patient Compliance Matters
by Garino Francesco
Digital orthodontics and specifically aligner orhodontics have seen in the last 20 years a progressive introduction in the orthodontic practices, due to an increased experience reached by the orthodontists, and also by an increased awareness on virtual plannings in addition to aligner system more sofisticated and predictable. There are still, tough, some movements not fully predictable in terms of amount of movement that cannot be treated only by aligners but requires the use of auxiliaries that makes more efficient from the beginning treatment of some complex malocclusions. In the last years more frequently we can see the use of hybrid treatments that can contribute to the success of the treatment. Has also to be remembered the experience of the orthodontist in the use and control of virtual planning. The learning curve takes time as per ever orthodontic technique. Within this environment, patient compliance represent a key factor in aligner treatments. Many patients are ready to follow a long treatment path only with aligners, while others aren't, thus in these cases the use of a hybrid approach represent an efficient alternative to optimize treatment times. In office and remote monitoring can represent an additional tool to increase patient motivation, and today there are different system, more or less sophisticated, which allows the orthodontist to involve more the patient into the orthodontic experience, specially with younger patients. During his presentation, Dr Garino will share these aspects together with clinical examples .
