After highlighting the pivotal role of the dental hygienist in preparing the patient for orthodontic treatment and establishing an optimal maintenance plan, it is essential to prevent hard and soft tissue injuries, and prepare all participants to implement protocols, if lesions should present before bonding, so that the patient does not aggravate the starting conditions. At the hard tissue level we would focus on the use of biomimetic peptides and hydroxyapatite, based on various clinical and laboratory developments, they have a prominent role in the presence of lesions; on soft tissues instead, implementing a minimally invasive protocol is essential to ensure correct orthodontic movement while avoiding periodontal complications.Implementing periodic recalls to better manage the bacterial biofilm on both brackets and attachments, combine the supportive therapy with home and/or professional ozone-based adjuvants so as not to create reversible damage and prepare the patient for any debonding without active lesions.
