Abstract
The Dental and Orthodontic Treatment Plan in the Interdisciplinary Approach of the Facial Aesthetic: EOE(tm) "the Evolved Dental Aesthetic"
by Grassi Gabriella and Musilli Marino
The orthodontic aspects play a significant role in the interdisciplinary therapy of facial aesthetics. Orthodontics focuses on correcting malocclusions and dental alignments, but can also positively influence the overall aesthetics of the face. In an interdisciplinary therapy, the orthodontist must work closely with other professionals to ensure a global and harmonious approach to improving the patient's aesthetic appearance. There are many changes that orthodontics can achieve more or less quickly. Frequent examples that we find ourselves facing are dental alignment, whether it is crowding or the management of diastemas, the correction of deep bites, with particular attention to the best exposure of the teeth in the smile area, up to the correction or to the camouflage of facial disharmonies. It is clear that the accurate diagnosis and the sharing of knowledge with the other professionals of the interdisciplinary team, including prosthetists, periodontists, aesthetic doctors and other specialists becomes fundamental, because not always, among the possible options, the pursuit of the ideal goal for each discipline turns out to be easily attainable due to a dubious prognosis. This open communication and sharing of information will be the subject of the presentation because it allows the development of a complete and targeted treatment plan to improve the aesthetics of the face in a coherent and harmonious way so as to obtain a satisfactory overall result, which reflects the natural beauty and the aesthetic appearance appropriate for each patient.
